Ability for "Recently Added" to go back indefinitely in web player

I would use the Astiga web player if the Recently Added section could be scrolled through chronologically, rather than being capped at the 12 most recent albums.

This is the only reason I use a 3rd party application. I prefer to have quick access to all the albums most recently added to my library. This is essentially a way of sorting them chronologically.

I would super appreciate this because 3rd party application support is pretty weak. Sonixd is the best I've found but even that is no longer being developed.

Thanks!

I think it would be nice for all such categories to be browseable, and it's what we've been working towards with all the sorting and filtering work we've done at the library level.

The writers of Sonixd, who went on to Feishin, are intended to add Subsonic support to the latter.

Just to be annoying again this has been one of my asks since GPM shut down and we all migrated here. I still prefer the android app to the web player specifically because of this (as well as the dedicated 'recently played' list, favorited albums, and 'go to artist'/'go to album' links).

I still feel like dedicated pages for these things is the way to go. Having a powerful filtering option is really nice when you want specific things, but pages like 'recently added' and 'recently played' and 'favorite albums/artists' have been staples in players because they're super common use cases and it's reasonable to want access to those lists with fewer clicks and without the slowness of filtering thousands of songs or hundreds of albums every time I want to see them.

I agree. Another way of looking at it is if the top-level album list was sortable by most recently played.

Ultimately that is the same function, you are right. But I think there's a case to be made that if users are frequently using a particular filter, the extra clicks and loading time of navigating to the whole library, setting a filter, and waiting for the filter to run add up fast.

If from the Home tab we could click on the 'Most Played', 'Recently Played', and 'Recently Added' headers to get an expanded list of those albums like the mobile app has, that's one third the amount of time I have to spend clicking every time I open the app. When you consider that a dedicated tab would also mean I don't have to load the top-level album page and manually run a filter, that's gonna make it even faster in comparison.

While I do like the improved filtering a lot, I personally don't want it to become the default way I find recent music because it is a more time-consuming way to do anything, even if it provides more options. Having lots of functionality but designed in such a way that frequently used features are the same effort to use as infrequently used features just means the addition of the infrequently used features has made my most common use cases, my everyday experience with the app, worse.

Again I realize I don't have the user research or anything to back up the idea that these aren't just my personal common use cases. But the fact that these most played/recently played/favorites/etc pages are a common denominator across most streaming platforms and players seems to speak to their usefulness.

Yeah, I'm envisaging that expanding the "recently added" group is kind of just a saved search - easiest possible thing would be redirecting to the sort by added date so it's still just one click (and then you can further refine, if you wanted to).

I definitely think these are common patterns.
