I'm really intrigued by the functionality of astiga, but I've hit a few roadblocks, and I wonder if I'm heading down the wrong road for some reason.

1) Google PlayStore claims that the version of the Astiga app there is too old for my (brand new) Android (Samsung A57). Is this accurate?

2). I made no progress with the link to the Astiga service (demo ware?). I could not make it see anything on my OneDrive.

3). Even if I had succeeded at (2), because I'm not willing to share my main OneDrive data with any online service, I attempted to make a new account with just a shared OneDrive music folder (from main account). I suspect this might not work, but don't really understand the problem in (2) so I can't say.

Any help on these issues would be appreciated.

(And a pox on Samsung for eliminating their additional microSD storage slot .. at least for the A series.)

By Astiga "service" I mean the Web hosted service, including the website, play.asti.ga , the sync process and so on. It generally does not include changes to the Android, Windows or Linux apps (although updates may include functionality that those apps depend on).

We aim to ship new builds every other week, and more often when there are critical issues to fix. A regular cadence of updates gets new features into your hands quicker, and gets us feedback quicker so we can improve the product more accurately for you, our users.

I am on S26 Ultra version One UI 8.5 Android 16.

Astiga version 1.5.39.

It looks like the Play Next button was maybe changed to "Play Last"? But playing last is useless for me as I have a 1000 currently playing songs.

I had instigated manual syncs for both accounts just after I'd uploaded. Sarah Anne should be enough info to find her account to look into it.

So I'd like to be able to remove what for me is clutter.

And under those lists, is there a way to bring up a tappable alphabet to quickly select a subset of artists or albums starting with, say, 'T' (as in The ...). Maybe an alphabet page that appears, like when I click on Decades?

I'm in the processing of migrating from Spotify and their app is pretty versatile and smooth. If I can find anything that handles music playing / sorting / displaying / etc as good as Spotify does, I'd be very happy :)

1) Frank Sinatra (Duets album - 13 songs): he is the Album Artist, but every one of the 13 tracks has as the Artist him and someone else (e.g., Frank Sinatra & Anita Baker). He shows up in the Album Artists view with 13 songs of course. But in "All Artists", he shows up (by himself) as having 0 songs, while each of the 13 duet Artist combos (e.g., see above) show as having one song, as expected. The other odd thing is that if you click on Frank's 0-song entry, it shows him as having 13 songs and shows all the song details, just as in the Album Artists view.

2) Stranger still is the case of Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová (Once: Music from the Motion Picture album - 13 songs): they are the Album Artists for all 13 songs, and also the Artists for 5 of those songs; and their entry shows up as having 5 songs under "All Artists". Glen Hansard (by himself) is the Artists for 7 songs, and Glen Hansard & Interference are the Artist for 1 song, adding up to 13. Now when I click on the Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová 5-song entry, it shows them as having 13 songs with all the song details, just as in the Album Artists view.

I find this confusing and think the code is strangely merging the All Artists and Album Artists views. IMHO the "All Artists" view should not show a Frank Sinatra (by himself) entry at all because as the app shows, he indeed has 0 songs as a solo Artist. OTOH, in the Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová case, the entry should be there, but when I click on it it should only show details for 5 songs, not 13, since they are only the Artists for 5 songs.

The bio's have been showing up, which is super awesome. However, I don't think I ever seen any image show up in any of my subsonic apps. Neither Feishin (PC, Linux) or Tempo (mobile, GrapheneOS, Android-based) has ever shown images.

I must have read wrong because at first I thought only bio's where supported so I didn't pay too much attention, but I just noticed images where also supposed to work.

Text and testing on my local computer supported by Notion KI (GPT 5.6 Sol). The problem seems to be a few months, but finally had the time to test many scenarios in detail.

Bug report:

• Environment: Windows 11, Logitech Signature K650 connected through its USB receiver, Logi Options+ installed.
• The keyboard and receiver are working correctly. An AutoHotkey v2 test detected all three standard events: Media_Play_Pause, Media_Prev and Media_Next.
• Stopping all Logi Options+ processes, including its update process, made no difference.
• In a second AutoHotkey test, F10, F11 and F12 were mapped to the standard Windows media commands. With the Astiga Windows app completely closed, these commands correctly controlled VLC, Windows Media Player, YouTube videos in Chrome and videos in IrfanView.
• As soon as the Astiga Windows app is running, none of those applications respond to the same media commands. Astiga itself does not respond to them either. Closing Astiga immediately restores media-key control in the other applications.
• Volume up, volume down and mute continue to work and are not affected.
• The Astiga web player shows a related problem. With the Windows app closed, media keys control YouTube in Chrome but not the Astiga tab. Even when the Astiga tab is focused and playback was started manually there, pressing Play/Pause continues to control the YouTube video in another tab instead of pausing Astiga.

The results exclude the keyboard hardware, USB receiver, Logi Options+ key assignments and Chrome alone as the primary cause. They suggest that Astiga either does not register a usable Windows/Chrome media session or captures global media commands without processing or releasing them correctly. This may affect both the Windows wrapper and the underlying web player.

Expected behaviour:

• The Astiga web player and Windows app should respond to Play/Pause, Previous and Next when Astiga is the active or most recently used media player.
• When Astiga is idle or running in the background, it should not prevent other applications from receiving global media commands.
• If exclusive media-key handling is intentional, the Windows app should provide an option to disable it.

Questions for support:

• Is this a known issue with the current Windows app or web player?
• Does Astiga use the browser Media Session API and Windows System Media Transport Controls for these commands?
• Is there an existing setting or workaround to release or disable Astiga's global media-key handling?

So it's been on our roadmap for a while to fix this.

I'm pleased to announce that we have started work on our official iOS app, and we have a first build for you to start testing!

As ever, we're taking an incremental approach to development, driving it by feedback and bug reports. We also wanted to get something useful out there and in your hands (literally!). Some listeners only use storage browsing and so might find this valuable!

This first alpha only allows you to log in, browse your connected storage accounts and play tracks. It sounds minimal, and is, but we're hoping to add more functionality as time passes.

There's a wider goal here. Our long term vision is to bring the new iOS app up to feature parity with the Android one, and then shift the Android one to the same codebase. This is possible because the underlying technology for the new app supports both platforms (and others). For the nerds: we're using Kotlin Multiplatform (often abbreviated as KMP). The advantage to Android users is a more modern UI and use of more modern audio components which brings extra features. The advantage to us is that there is just one codebase, and it's actively developed, unlike the codebase that the current app was originally based on.

Now we're looking for alpha testers to help us spot problems and guide development. If you'd like to be involved, please drop a comment here or send us an email to info@asti.ga asking to be included. We'll need the email address that you log into the iOS App Store with, so if it's not the same as your Astiga login you might have to send us an email.

I'm using a third-party Subsonic client (Feishin on Mac OS 26.5.1) to access my Astiga library. My library is manually tagged (I'm using Astiga with Library Enhancement turned off), and each file has explicit, correct Album Artist tags---for example, "Various Artists" on compilation albums, wherein each track has a distinct and individual Artist tag. For this kind of library organization, when viewing via Album Artist view, all such albums should be filed under "Various Artists," and artists that exist only on tracks in a compilation should not appear in the list of artists at all. Indeed, this is exactly how my library appears in the Astiga web-player when viewing by Album Artist.

However, when viewing via Feishin's "Album Artist" tab (which is distinct from its "Artists" tab), it does not have any entry for "Various Artists," and artists that have only tracks on compilation albums are given their own entry in the artists list. I cloned Feishin and checked its network activity, and indeed, when viewing by Album Artist, it calls the getArtists endpoint---the JSON it receives contains no entry for "Various Artists," and includes all artists on individual tracks on compilations.

On the other hand, when viewing in Feishin by Album, it lists albums correctly: a compilation album is listed correctly and uniquely under "Various Artists." It does this by calling getAlbumList2, and the JSON it receives, under the "artist" key, lists "Various Artists" where relevant. But then, when it gets info for an individual song via getAlbum, each song entry has only an "artist" field, populated by the track-performer---causing Feishin to incorrectly classify the "Album Artist" as the track-artist for the song.

Not sure if this is a bug report or a feature request exactly, so I apologize if this is not appropriate for this forum. I also apologize if this is too focused on a third-party service. But since this pertains to Astiga's way of serving getArtists regardless of third-party client, I thought it worth bringing up---especially since sorting by Album Artist and compiling compilations under "Various Artists" is a foundational aspect of many people's libraries (mine included).

I've enjoyed using Astiga for the last 7 days.

I went to sign up for the Premium version, choosing monthly instalments. When clicking on the Subscribe button I keep getting shown a page showing 'Slim Application Error' and can proceed no further.

Can you help?

In addition, some slowness may be noticed as we run the migrations. Please bear with us, this should only be temporary.

I've tried multiple times, both web and app to no avail. I have also verified that hours later, my library still isn't updated with the latest files from my Drive, just to check that it wasn't a pure UI/front-end issue.

b) Search doesn't work for some short strings on web. I haven't experimented to find exact patterns but e.g. "ex" as a search string returns no results (this is expected as there is a three character minimum). But searching "ex:" misses many results including "ex:re" and includes results that shouldn't match (i.e. ones without the colon).

c) Likewise, search doesn't work correctly on the Android app. Here two character query strings are allowed. But a search for "ex:re" will not return the artist "ex:re". Again, I haven't experimented with all permutations where it doesn't work this is just one I have tested recently that isn't correct.

Astiga will now start the synchronisation process. This can take several minutes up to several hours, depending on your music library size and whether your files were changed or not. One album named Σ is suddenly not showing on the genre page anymore.

However, this issue only occurs in third party clients. It does show up on the play.asti.ga.

When searching in the third party client, it also tells me there are 0 albums with this artist.

But when I click on the artist, the album is there like normal.

404 page not found

on the play.asti.ga domain. It was working fine this afternoon, so it must've broken not long ago. The main asti.ga domain and other subdomains still work, as might be obvious from me reporting it here 🙃.

It is not ticked as a compilation in the ID tags

The album ONLY shows under Various Artists. It does NOT show under Pet Shop Boys.

Therefore, are you now (did you before?) taking all multi-artist albums and making them Various Artists? No problem if you are, but just curious!!!

If you aren't - why do you think this is happening?

Addendum : I have tried rescanning the library but clearly is still isn't picking up the Album Artist as I see it in the library. I wonder why?

I have 2 types of music storage: listening music and DJ music. I keep them in separate root folders. right now I only have my listening library all tidy, sorted and uploaded to my cloud storage to be used with Astiga. would be cool if I could also do the same for my DJ files, but without it merging with the listening files. this is because I use different methods for sorting them, and some of the files would be duplicate in both libraries.

This only affects some albums and their tagging is not similar, but they are both in m4a containers.

When I look at the Browser view this music is not showing up.

I clicked the SYNC button and got a message that I need Premium to sync more than x number of times in 3 days..

I have Premium.

I just tried to Sync again and got an error message to turn on WiFi or mobile network and both are already turned on.

How do I get my music Synced?
