Default sorting option

Hey!

I remember when the sorting option was added, the idea was that the sorting would be remembered during use. It already never really worked flawlessly, often resetting to the default alphabetic sorting. However, since the new sorting functionality is added, it doesn't work at all anymore.

So I would like to request an account-wide setting for default sort-algorithm. I find myself setting the sort back to release date continuously. Every time I open an artist page the first thing I do is change the sorting algorithm. That is 2 extra clicks each time I open an artist page. A small thing perhaps, but annoying just the same.

If it can be per page-sort (like for example being able to have artists/bands default on release date, but genres pages on alphabet) that would be the most perfect. But I'd already be happy with a general setting for each page.

• Do you use different sorts for different types (artists, albums, genres)?
• Are you talking about album sort or track sort?
• Do you often change the sort or do you generally work with the same sort for each type pair (e.g. artist track sorting, or genre album sorting)?

I use release date, oldest first on artists/bands pages.On the genre pages I keep it on alphabetical and prefer it that way, but I'm not too strongly opinionated about having those sorted differently.

I did just notice that for some reason tracks can't be changed based on release date currently, only on date added.

Album sort, although I'm not opposed to being able to set both.

Literally every time I open an /artist/ or /band/ page the first thing I do is change the sort to release date, oldest first.

I use the same sort for each type pair. So all artist/bands on release date, all genres. See list in question 1. The rare occasion I want that differently I don't mind the buttons on the pages. But a way to change the default would be great.

As you don't seem to change the sort from your preferred release date sort, I think we'll just change it to save what you last chose on a type pair basis. So once you choose a sort for artist albums this will be used on each subsequent visit to an artist page.
