Library not populating after sync

Hi. I'm looking at Astiga as a way to play music from my cloud storage on Windows. I use DoubleTwist CloudPlayer on Android, but there aren't many good options for streaming music on PC. I'm having trouble viewing my music in the Astiga library, though.

After syncing my music from Google Drive, my library is still empty. Here's a screenshot. https://i.imgur.com/EtTQ1x7.png

But my music is accessible via the Storage dropdown. https://i.imgur.com/XdlYVy5.png

This is all on the Web client. My music is stored in Google Drive under "Computers" instead of the root folder, and I had to amend the default path in order for Astiga to recognise my music folder. Perhaps this introduced a problem?

Thank you for your time!

  • Is your music correctly tagged?

Can you post the log file of the synch?

  • Assuming that you mean FLAC/ID3 tags, all my files have tags.

Here's the log file for the sync. I couldn't see any particular errors. https://controlc.com/973390d4

Does that count as a shared folder? Does https://community.asti.ga/discussion/comment/1631/#Comment_1631 give any inspiration?

  • No, it's not a shared folder. I don't encounter any error messages, and Astiga can see that there are music files, as they appear under the Storage header in the left sidebar. https://i.imgur.com/XdlYVy5.png

Here's what my Google Drive folder looks like for the computer where my music is stored. https://i.imgur.com/jkN6roi.png The folder ID (ie drive/folders/xxxxx) for My Computer is set as the root folder, and the initial folder is set as Music. Putting a forward slash in front of Music in the sync settings doesn't make a difference as to whether or not it shows up in the Astiga library, or at least, it doesn't give an error. I can't re-sync to see if that changes anything because of the sync cooldown period.

It seems that there are a number of apps that don't work well accessing data stored in the "Computers" folder via Google Backup and Sync, and the computer that uploaded that data is in storage so I'm in the process of moving the contents of the Computers folder to my main drive. However, syncing that folder (ie root/music) under a new "Storage" in Astiga results in the same problem: I can view the files in that folder via the link under the "storage" header on the sidebar, but again, the library isn't populating. Not quite sure where to go from here.

  • Mystifyingly, I was able to get my music to appear in the Astiga library by connecting to my Drive root folder without specifying an Initial Folder in the connection setup (contrary to the instructions on the Add Google Drive right hand sidebar, because my music is in root/Music?). I don't know what the difference could be - I would assume that this time, Astiga is looking for music in every folder in my Drive rather than just the Music folder? But in all three cases where I connected Astiga to Google Drive, it did see the music, because I was able to play songs via browsing to them in the filesystem under the Storage header in the left sidebar. In any case, I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

    Thanks, everybody, for your suggestions.

Thanks for confirming. We lookup the root folder - either the default when Root folder is unset, which maps to the "My Drive" hierarchy, or if something is set for Root folder then we lookup that folder instead.

From there we then do fairly simple string matching on the resulting folder. It's odd that "Music" isn't being found here. We do actually trim forward slashes off the path so that shouldn't be an issue...

Let me know if there's something more you want me to look at.
