  1) Google PlayStore claims that the version of the Astiga app there is too old for my (brand new) Android (Samsung A57). Is this accurate?

  I wasn't aware this was an issue - looks like Android 16. I'll double check and we'll get a fix out if it is!

  2). I made no progress with the link to the Astiga service (demo ware?). I could not make it see anything on my OneDrive.

  You should be able to add a storage account from https://play.asti.ga/setup/choose-storage . Is that what you were doing? There doesn't appear to be a part-configured account there right now, so let us know what problem you were hitting. Regarding "initial folder": if in doubt, leave it blank.

  3). Even if I had succeeded at (2), because I'm not willing to share my main OneDrive data with any online service, I attempted to make a new account with just a shared OneDrive music folder (from main account). I suspect this might not work, but don't really understand the problem in (2) so I can't say.

  Yeah, that's the only workaround unfortunately. These connections to backend storage generally don't give the opportunity to tie specific permissions to specific folders.

  I was using https://asti.ga/onedrive-music-player, and this didn't work so well. I used the link you provided and it worked fine. The OneDrive share also worked, although the share didn't appear immediately due to a caching effect somewhere.

  I guess Apple lossless playback is not supported? No matter, I can convert to a supported format.

  The lack of an app is a showstopper, though. Play Store says: "Looking for Astiga Cloud Player? This app is not available because it was made for an older version of Android."

  Thanks Ted. https://asti.ga/onedrive-music-player is working for me - what error did you see?

  The above link is our "public" test which doesn't require an account, so it works a little differently.

  I guess Apple lossless playback is not supported?

  Are you saying this might've been a cause of the OneDrive problem?

  I believe on some Apple devices of the correct version, and using Safari, and using an .m4a container, it might work! But virtually all other browsers on other operating systems will not support Apple lossless natively.

  Agree - while we look at that, you can use other Android apps that support the Subsonic protocol. For example:

  • Substreamer
  • Symfonium (paid)
  • Or search Play Store for "subsonic"

  I'm not sure on their Android 16 support...

  No, the Apple lossless issue I only discovered once things were sort-of working. Not really a problem

  My first attempt to connect my OneDrive produced a long and very strange-looking "token". (Not that I know what that token is for!). The Astiga UI displayed the basic OneDrive folders (e.g., Document, Vault), but it never found any additional content that I added. My second tru, through the link you offered, worked fine.

  I'll admit that I don't fully understand how I would connect a 3rd party player to the Astiga back-end or if such a player would be visible to Android Auto (my ultimate goal).

  Bear in mind that my setup woes should be taken with a grain of salt since OneDrive does not work nicely with attempts to use two different user IDs on the same device, even in alternation.
