It does NOT show under Pet Shop Boys.

Therefore, are you now (did you before?) taking all multi-artist albums and making them Various Artists? No problem if you are, but just curious!!!

If you aren't - why do you think this is happening?

Addendum : I have tried rescanning the library but clearly is still isn't picking up the Album Artist as I see it in the library. It generally does not include changes to the Android, Windows or Linux apps (although updates may include functionality that those apps depend on).

We aim to ship new builds every other week, and more often when there are critical issues to fix. A regular cadence of updates gets new features into your hands quicker, and gets us feedback quicker so we can improve the product more accurately for you, our users.

This thread is read-only because I don't want to distract from the information about what each build contains. If you want to raise an issue or discuss any of the builds, or features in the builds, please open a new thread.

Some of the most common feedback we receive is around iOS. Typically we bashfully admit we don't have an iOS app, and point them to a Subsonic compatible app. Sometimes this gets adopted, sometimes not and we lose a potential listener.

So it's been on our roadmap for a while to fix this.

I'm pleased to announce that we have started work on our official iOS app, and we have a first build for you to start testing!

As ever, we're taking an incremental approach to development, driving it by feedback and bug reports. We also wanted to get something useful out there and in your hands (literally!). Some listeners only use storage browsing and so might find this valuable!

This first alpha only allows you to log in, browse your connected storage accounts and play tracks. It sounds minimal, and is, but we're hoping to add more functionality as time passes.

There's a wider goal here. Our long term vision is to bring the new iOS app up to feature parity with the Android one, and then shift the Android one to the same codebase. This is possible because the underlying technology for the new app supports both platforms (and others). For the nerds: we're using Kotlin Multiplatform (often abbreviated as KMP). The advantage to Android users is a more modern UI and use of more modern audio components which brings extra features. The advantage to us is that there is just one codebase, and it's actively developed, unlike the codebase that the current app was originally based on.

Now we're looking for alpha testers to help us spot problems and guide development. If you'd like to be involved, please drop a comment here or send us an email to info@asti.ga asking to be included. We'll need the email address that you log into the iOS App Store with, so if it's not the same as your Astiga login you might have to send us an email.

The minimum supported iOS version is 17.2. Find more information about testing here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/cx7cEUKc . At the time of writing the build hasn't been approved, but hopefully this will change over the coming hours.

I’m writing with some possibly disappointing news; we’re going to be raising the price of Astiga subscriptions starting 20 April 2026. The new prices will be:

| Currency | Old monthly | New monthly | Old annual | New annual |
|----------|-------------|-------------|------------|------------|
| GBP | 3.99 | 4.25 | 39.90 | 42.50 |
| EUR | 4.75 | 4.99 | 47.50 | 49.90 |
| USD | 4.99 | 5.25 | 49.90 | 52.50 |

A look back

We last changed prices over three years ago in 2023 (https://community.asti.ga/discussion/562/pricing-changes-for-2023/p1 ); quite a long time ago. These changes had a significant impact on Astiga’s viability. The adoption of 100% subscriptions reduced the “churn” (https://community.asti.ga/discussion/comment/2307/#Comment_2307 ) of the customer base and we now have a much more even and predictable income.

Why we are making price changes now

We’re not making the same sweeping “structural” changes to pricing this time, we’re just raising them! But we know that adjusting pricing in the past has helped the service continue developing for the future.

The past three years have brought more inflation, particularly in the past half-year. Our data center costs have been raised by 38% and technical staffing costs have also risen in line with general inflation.

So as our costs rise, we need to raise our prices to cover them.

Why stick around?

We don’t automatically deserve your custom; there are alternatives out there.

We’ve continued to listen to your feedback and fix the bugs that need fixing and implement new features (https://community.asti.ga/discussion/779/astiga-roadmap-2025/p1?new=1 ).

We’re continuing to build out the iOS app, we implemented Sonos integration, playlists have been improved and we’ve done a lot of work on the scalability and security of the platform.

We’ve just posted our roadmap for 2026 containing the broad areas we’re aiming at improving. Hopefully you can stick around to enjoy these!

An offer to our existing customers

We’ll offer the same deal to our existing customers as previous years: existing customers can lock-in the current rate during a grace period (from now until the date of the change - 20th April 2026) by purchasing an annual subscription before the new price rises come into effect. We'll refund your remaining subscription, pro-rata.

To do this, purchase a new annual licence via https://play.asti.ga/premium . See the “Annual upgrade” section. Let us know when you have purchased (info@asti.ga) and we'll make sure all the refunds are run.

Similarly, existing annual members can lock in their rate by purchasing a new annual subscription from the same place.

I realise not everyone is waiting by their inbox for news from us. If you’ve found out about this late and the grace period has ended (and you’re an existing customer) email us at info@asti.ga and we’ll make that happen.

Let us know what you think

Please let us know your thoughts about this price rise. Too much? Too little (😄)?

We’ve tried to explain the rationale and offer incentives to our existing customers. The service is nothing without its listeners to guide it, so I really want everyone to stay on board!

Keep listening (please)! 🎶

Dan

I wanted to update the roadmap for 2026! Last year's roadmap is beginning to look messy and I wanted to refresh our priorities.

Each year I like to map out our current thinking of how we will be steering Astiga, product development wise, over the coming months. This is so we can voice our priorities right now and give you a chance to feedback with your own.

As before, this roadmap should really just be considered a general guide as to some broad areas we will be working on; not a specific dated commitment. We try to keep our descriptions on the general-side, avoiding specifics. That's because we know that feedback might steer us in a different way, and problems can sometimes become apparent that mean we can't implement something in a specific way.

Those are also the broad areas; there are also a lot of other things we want to improve in browsing, playing, managing, cataloguing and recording your library. Look out for some developments on these fronts too!

Inevitably, parallel to feature development we have a bunch of other things to do. These are:

Marketing

Service availability

Service scaling

Customer support

External audits and assessments

As a result it may seem like sometimes we aren't releasing a lot of features, but rest assured feature development is where our heart really lies!

How we decided the roadmap

Through the year we take opinions and input from numerous routes:

This forum

Responses to surveys of active users

Emails we receive

Developments in the market, and the opportunities presented by new technological developments

Analysis of feature use

Last year...

In terms of pure functional improvements we followed what we set out in last year's roadmap pretty closely.

Library enhancement was rolled out to all premium users. For listeners who have a less-than perfect metadata regime, this corrects aspects of their library and adds in extra information like artist bios. We also found time to add missing cover art, release dates and genre classifications!

We launched the iOS app and implemented storage browsing and some basic library features.

In addition to the previous roadmapped features, we also added other features and integrations driven by community requests:

Sonos support

Multiple genres

Importing playlists directly

Fixing orphaned storage accounts in playlists

This year...

The primary focus for this year is going to be development of the iOS app.

However, in addition there are some other areas that we are going to pursue that we'd also like your feedback on.

More below! 👇️

More importantly my Christmas albums are not working!!! 'The Best Christmas Songs' 1 & 2.

They and many others are in my album list but do not work. I have resynced, removed and readded the Astiga app in Sonos.

Thanks

Hi, I'm a new user (premium)and did look through some of the discussions and could not find my issue. I'm using both the web and window apps and have experienced the same issue. My music library is on OneDrive and the sync worked great. I have a large music library, and I have check through multiple artists through the artist view and when I click on the artist's name it brings up all the albums by that artist. There is one artist when I click on them (it states there are 205 songs) I get the "Oops Page not found" error message, and it adds the Get Started options on the left had side even though my OneDrive library is still connected. The other part is that if I go under the Album view, I can find all 20 albums by the artist. The artist is AC/DC and I noticed that in OneDrive the folder is AC-DC. But within Astiga it is labeled AC/DC...wasn't sure if there is a possible labeling issue or special character issue? Just found the same scenario with John Wetton-Geoffrey Downes cd's.

Thanks !!

Just wanted to call out this feature, in case you've missed it... A number of listeners have now enabled it, but it is a bit hidden so I wanted to bring it to the fore.

We have now made library enhancement available to all premium users:

Library enhancement is a purely additive and non-destructive feature in Astiga. When enabled (it's currently disabled by default) it adds extra information about your music library, such as artist images and biographies, and fixes album names and structures (such as disc numbers). There are other improvements in the pipeline, such as album artwork, genre and year completion, track naming and positioning and more.

The enhanced library is only shown when that slider above is switched-on (to-the-right). If it is switched off then your original raw library is shown, just as before.

Artist bios give a pic and a summary of the artist's/band's life and career:

Meanwhile, structural and album title fixes help with common problems. Split albums with disc artifacts in their titles...

Are consolidated to:

This is purely optional - just leave the slider switched-off if you don't want this.

Oh, and note the same enhancements trickle through to other integrations! You'll benefit from the same fixes on the Android app, Sonos and other Subsonic apps.

It's time to update the roadmap for Astiga development for 2025!

This is our chance to signal what broad areas we're going to be working on this year. As ever, we can't be too specific as to features or timescales, or over committal to any one thing for fear of changing priorities, but this is our way of at least communicating how we are steering the service.

Indeed, this past year has been a good lesson as to why we avoid being too committal. We've been hit by a number of unexpected requirements and have been finding a growing trend in integration with other cloud services is an increased burden on verification. For example, Google now require a month-long assessment process, yearly, which also costs us a significant amount of money (the assessments must now be performed by outside independent assessors). Hopefully this helps build credibility, but it's the kind of thing that can come unexpectantly and throw us off-course!

Last year's roadmap is here: https://community.asti.ga/discussion/662/astiga-roadmap-2024

How do we decide what to focus on? Well, basically it's a combination of ensuring the service can support itself, financially, and delivering those features that are requested by our current users.

This year, we're going to concentrate on broadly the same topics, looking to make up for ground we lost last year... Let's separate it to four main areas we're looking to improve: library browsing, playlist handling, our mobile apps and new integrations.

Library enhancement

A large part of the usability of a music player comes from the nature of the library. If you have a library that is not well organised it is difficult to use the service, no matter how slick the service itself is.

This doesn't apply to all of you of course... if anything, Astiga users tend to have tidier libraries than most. However, a large proportion of our users don't have sparkling libraries and it's a big turn off when "it doesn't look like Spotify".

In the background we've been working on combining Astiga's sync process with bliss to correct and complete library data. The first steps are currently in alpha testing with some of our users, and is currently limited to fixing album names, multi disc organisation (no more "All Things Must Pass Disc II" style names) and adding artist biographies and images.

We're hoping to open this up to more people for testing soon, and also start to expand the features; we've been getting requests for genre consolidation, track name fixing and more. This feature is disableable so you can go back to using your tags exclusively.

Current progress: this has now entered beta, all premium users can access it. We've also added the fixing of missing cover art, release dates and genres.

Playlists

Playlists are important to a lot of our users, and there're a number of areas we want to improve:

Performance of large playlists on mobile apps. completed

User-led fixing of playlists and orphaned/missing tracks. completed

Apps

This one has been blocked by access to skilled resource. If you know any good mobile developers who'd like to work on Astiga, let us know!

Broadly we want to (and these will be our focus in these areas):

Improve the UX of the Android version

Launch an iOS app

Integrations

We want to ensure Astiga is available for you to be used on all your devices. We're currently in the early stages of testing for integration into the Sonos platform (done!) and there are other ideas that have been put to me: Android TV, WiiM, Alexa, Home Assistant, Roku and more.

Outside of playback, we could also integrate at a storage level, providing more convenient methods for integrating self-stored NAS drives with Astiga.

User feature requests

@buppi made the point that we weren't really prioritising valid improvements suggested by listeners. I agreed and suggested we formalise (internally) an approach to implementing these. We've made a commitment to schedule a tranche of these in each quarter, but can't always promise when an individual item will be implemented.

So far this year we've completed (we started this in Q3):

Support multiple genres per album

Import playlists directly from the storage browser

Remap storage accounts in playlists

Hiding storage accounts

Separating supplementary data from re-organisation in library enhancement

So those are the main areas we're working on. Feel free to drop us a line, here or by email, if you have something to say about these!
