    Build 20260625

During the recent database migration work we had to make some interim releases which we didn't announce because they were mostly around dealing with the changing data.

However, a few improvements did sneak in, so time to list these!

    Notifications

Motivated by wanting to better announce work like the database migration we've made a few improvements to the notification stuff...

    • We fixed the display of notifications and the "mark read" and delete functionality

    Sync

    Web app

    • Fix album detail play/add for compilation albums
    • Don't link the profile avatar
    • Feedback when there were no search matches in the storage search

    Subsonic

A few more updates post-migration (there was also some non-user facing background work here not listed below). This closes the migration stuff, so onward and upwards!

    Build 20260714

This release contains the first tranche of a big improvement in the most fundamental of things: how we stream music!

Using OneDrive as the focus, we're implementing numerous efficiencies to our streaming infrastructure. In the coming releases, other cloud storage sources will also be upgraded (OneDrive was the most common source of complaints, so we started there).

We hope this will improve playback and browsing times for OneDrive users.

Additional OneDrive bonus - shared folders!

Shared folders are now supported seamlessly in Astiga. That is: a shared folder appears just the same as any other folder; it can be browsed into, played from, and more.

    Other stuff...

    Build 20260728

This release closes off what we started last build - more efficient streaming. Last build we implemented OneDrive as a test, now we've updated the following providers too:

    • Google Drive
    • Dropbox
    • S3 (where supported)
    • pCloud

What does "more efficient streaming" mean? Basically, before we would pull the entire file from the storage service, before streaming it to you. This had a small effect with a four minute pop song, but for audio files that are 100s of MBs long it would cause a noticeable pause.

The above providers now all operate on a full streaming basis, whereby the first bytes of audio are delivered super-fast and then continually streamed, and cached, direct to you. This makes large files play much quicker.

As an aside, we also improved our caching of Google Drive folder structures to speed up playback from that service.

    Sonos storage browsing

We've added folder-and-file storage browsing to our Sonos connector.

Before, you could only see library elements; albums, artists, playlists etc, so this required library synchronisation.

We've now added folder and file navigation. Access it via the "Storage Browser" - the last option on the menu inside your Astiga service inside the Sonos controller.

This means you no longer have to synchronise your library before connecting to Sonos.

    Other stuff...

    • Don't show a "Toast" alert unless an explicit playback action has been performed (e.g. don't show on page load)
    • Guard against infinite recursion in library sync now that OneDrive shared folders are treated equivalently
    • Make sure "Various Artists" is shown (if present) in the /artists/ Album Artists filter

    Build 20260804

Improvements to Google Drive support, system notifications, Subsonic folder browsing and streaming to iOS devices in this release!

    Google Drive shared folders

We now treat Google Drive shared folders transparently; they can be browsed into, synced, played from, and treated any other way you'd treat a Google Drive folder. Also, directly shared files can be... directly played.

This is as opposed to the previous approach (which still works if you just want to focus on the shared folder).

    Other stuff...

    • Fix system notifications dialog button text
    • Return getSong details for songs that are browsed purely in storage folders (used by Sonos)
    • Display a helpful message when a token is redacted and offer one click re-authorisation
    • Fix streaming for the iOS app
